A fun slasher spoof that is more fun than it may appear.

Having just watched the first few Friday the 13th movies this year, I'm glad I was able to get The Final Girls a spin too. It's pretty much a outright parody living in this camp-slasher universe, probably most homage to FT13th Part 2 directly.

The plot follows Amanda Cartwright (Malin Akerman) and a group of her friends that get transported and stuck inside an 80s horror camp-slasher movie that her one-time horror scream queen mother (Taissa Farmiga) starred in. The group navigates the rules of the 80s slasher movie trying to make it out alive and return to the real world.

I found the movie because I enjoy Middleditch, but it's Taissa Farmiga and Malin Akerman that certainly drive the movie. It has some heart, and a good amount of scares. I'm not sure I noticed it was PG-13 until after, but the scares and imagery fall inline with that rating, but not as a muted distraction at all.

All in all, a good amount of fun, some laughs, a couple jumps.

Thanks for stoping by! ;)
