Mad God2021 • Unrated • 1h 23m![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Assassin travels through a nightmare underworld of tortured souls, ruined cities and wretched monstrosities forged from the primordial horrors of the unconscious mind of Phil Tippett, the world's preeminent stop-motion animator. |
A dark, tortured rollercoater ride. I was really excited about this one and I can tell you that it was not what I expected. I thought this was going to be a ride through the underworld filled with demons and tortured souls. Instead, what I witnessed was a different kind of torture. It was a fascinatingly revolting look at a bleak set of world that are punished by their creator. The animation, as expected, was incredible. The scenes were incredibly laid out and detailed. There were definitely uncomfortable times, and I even gagged once; definitely not for the more faint of heart. Overall, I may wach it again at some point, especially to try to tie together some of the symbolism I may have missed. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of were the human actor segments. It took me too far out of the world built through the incredible stop motion worlds. |
