A good time at the movies. The sound design and cinematography are great, putting the audience right into the throws of the spooky atmosphere. It's a fairly unique take on the classic "deal with the devil" story. I do felt like the ending was a little telegraphed, but it wasn't until about 2/3rds through was it evident enough. I definitely wouldn't consider there a twist, but some may find a revelation or two surprising. I did not catch the man in the basement reference, though. That one did surprise me. All in all, one of my favorites this year! |
