Friday the 13th: A New Beginning1985 • R • 1h 32m![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Still haunted by his past, Tommy Jarvis, who, as a child, killed Jason Voorhees, is sent to a secluded halfway house in the countryside, where the killing of a young man triggers a brutal series of murders in the area. |
So much lost potential. I went in blind to this and came out quite disappointed, even with my expectations being so low. Seems like we traded some additional raunchiness and nudity for a lack of gore. All the killings seemed to be off-screen and the over-the-top blood was mostly missing; with awkward cuts in between certain attacks and the after being rather dry makeup slice marks. The best part was definitely the brashness and humor of the neighbor, Ethel (Carol Locatell). The ending was "eh" at best. I like looking back now at the history of the franchise, and why certain choices were made to stories along the way. I appreciate this was set up to start a new trilogy with different killers, but it just didn't work here. This part is skippable, in my opinion. |
