Most of the movies so far have been rather tame. I had this, and this and a couple others lined up to move to the next level of fright, and it didn't let down. I'll be the first to admit that the first Evil Dead movie scared the living creap out of me. So much that I didn't touch any more in the series until this year... turns out Part II and Army of Darkness were just comedy, cult camp. I enjoyed the 2013 remake of Evil Dead, and looked forward to getting to this one. I was kind of hoping they'd be a bit more related (other than the Book of the Dead), but as another edition in the series I thought it was fantastic. The atmosphere, the effects and makeup, the feeling of being trapped and helpless. All came together to truly frighten the audience. |
