I'm solidly a fan of A24; especially the horror films they put out. Bodies Bodies Bodies is a murderous whodunit where the body count keeps increasing. It does a good job keeping you guessing throughout the movie, and the had the right pace and balance of kills. The characters do feel a bit removed from the audience; there isn't too much of a relationship built up while the movie pushes forward, but there's enough mystery to keep you interested as the bodies pile up. Hard not to draw some parellels to another mansion murder hunt movie from this year, Ready Or Not. But this one falls much shorter and, really, outside of some dead folks and a big house, there's not really any other similarities. I had a lot of fun watching this one, though it's not anywhere near a lot of A24's other horrors (X, Pearl), and I'm excited for Talk to Me later this month. |
