Loved it. SPOILERS: While I won't ever leave anything here that would ruin the story itself, I will bring up points about the execution of the film. Some consider that a spoiler. First, part of what made the movie so great is I did not read any reviews or reactions and went in completely blind, so stop reading and go watch it! This movie was so very well done. The first 45 minutes was a fantastic slow burn psychological thriller that explodes into a fantastic misdirection and sharp cut to black with a genre pivot into a dark comedy which eventually pivots again into a trapped/chaser horror. Some may not like these pivots, but I found it very refreshing. Most of that may have been leading me on during the first act, allowing me to build up theories on what was happening before resolving them all playing my mind the fool. The acting was great across all acts and the soundtrack was well layered. I did notive the heart beats a bit, but I relied on them to give me enough signal on how tense to be. |
