You know when someone is doing a really bad job at telling a joke or story and keeps missing details and having to go back to clarify... that's what this script felt like multiple times. The characters just didn't make a whole lot of sense. Like an hour in it decides "Did we firmly establish that Debbie works out a lot and her #1 fear is cockroaches? ...we didn't? just like one line? well, it's now very important." And how do Alice and Dan end up together at all? The movie starts with them not even knowing each other, and then somehow Dan starts tagging along for literally no established reason. It was all just really sloppy. There were some cool things, though. The dream loop with Alice and Dan getting into he car was fun to see play out. And this installment had the absolute best Freddy death so far. A fun-enough sequel, especially if you forgive the rather nonsensical characters. |
