Having watched this for the first time almost 40 years after its release I can say it maintains its notoriety as a top horror flick. As expected, Craven nails it here. I like that it starts up fast with the fright and without too much slow buildup to wait through. The effects were a tad dated, as to be expected. The acting varied from great (the kids) to 'meh' (Ronee). The last scene was quite odd; I wish Craven's desired ending was there. |
